    Dear Master Wesley-
I studied under both you and Grand Master Choi during the 1980's and 90's, achieving the rank of 2nd Dan. A family friend of mine who still lives in Arizona, informed me of your recent achievement of being inducted into the Martial Arts hall of fame and receiving a Golden Life Award. I want to offer you my congratulations on a well-deserved honor. I also want to thank you for all of the lessons you helped teach me during my teenage years. The lessons I learned from both you and Grand Master Choi have been instrumental in any success I have achieved in my life to date.

    Warmest Regards

How To Tie Your Tae Kwon Do Belt

Tying your Tae Kwon Do belt is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. But if you’re new to Tae Kwon Do, you may need to see it done a few times before you “get it”. I made a video you can watch and learn how to tie your tae kwon do belt below. It’s quick, easy and cool! If you watch the video below, let me know if it helps. If you have any other questions about tying your belt just ask Master Wesley. He’s the real pro.

    The Order of The Belts

Something you might be curious about is the order of Tae Kwon Do belts. Some say that at one time there was only one belt, white. And that after much use, practice, sweat and dirt, it became black. Could be true or could be a legend…

Today most schools have their own order of belt colors. At Wes Choi’s we have 10 belts. Everyone starts out as a White belt, then you progress thru Orange, Yellow, Green, Purple, Blue, Brown, Red, Red-Black and finally Black. After you become a Black belt you can get Dan’s or ranks, Master Wesley is a 6th Dan black belt. And because he has 42 years of martial arts experience, he is also a Grand. Wow!

Why Do You Wear Belts In Tae Know Do?

Do you know why we wear belts for Tae Kwon Do? Well it’s pretty simple really. The reason that you wear belts in martial arts is so everyone can tell your rank. The white is a beginner and the Black is someone who’s well accomplished. But no matter what belt/rank you are, your belt states that you are a Tae Know Do Person.

What Do You Do With Your Old Belts?

What to do with your old Tae Kwon Do BeltJust starting Tae Kwon Do, or a long time student, there are always lots of questions about what to do with your old Belts. Master Wesley does some pretty cool things with his belts, he rolls them in a circle so you can see every color, it’s a belt rainbow. You can also display them on little shelves made just for belts, it’s really cool. Me, well I just stuff my belts in my bag but that will change soon now that I have 4.
